The Bulgaria-Korea IT Cooperation Center (ITCC) mission is:

Promote ICT cooperation between Bulgaria and Korea, through developing joint projects and exchanging experiences of the countries

The main area of interest of ITCC is eGovernment as Korea's eGov is highly developed and Korea consistently ranks in top places in the UN Annual eGov Surveys

ITCC establishment entities and timeline:

  • Early 2010: a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Public Administration and Security of the Republic of Korea (MOPAS) and the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications of the Republic of Bulgaria (MTITC). A Steering Committee was established, including representatives from MOPAS and MTITC, and meeting twice a year
  • 20 September 2010: a Cooperation Agreement was signed between the National Information Society Agency (NIA) and Sofia University (SU) as executive agencies of ITCC
  • Prof Nedyu Popivanov (SU) was appointed ITCC General Director
  • 4 October 2010: Mr Jaehong Yoon (NIA) was dispatched to Sofia as ITCC Coordinator
  • October 2010: an Advisory Committee was appointed. It includes representatives from ITCC, MTITC, SU, BAIT, BASSCOM, ICT Cluster and meets regularly (2 to 4 times a month)
  • December 2010: The first Steering Committee meeting was held, marking the official start of ITCC
  • December 2010: ITCC established its office in the Bulgaria-Korea Internet Plaza (in the Central Post at 6 Gurko Str)
  • January 2011: Three small initial projects started (total of 75 person/days). They are still undergoing and initial results will be presented at the workshop

    3. Development of ITCC Roadmap
  • February 2011: Ms Jana Jankova (SU) was appointed as Administrative Secretary of ITCC
  • 11 March 2011: Official ITCC opening and Bulgaria-Korea eGovernment Experts Workshop
